ObamaCare = government-subsidized abortions

The National Right to Life Committee has a new document out explaining in detail how every version of the health-care bill would force taxpayers to finance elective abortion.

This is not a surprise or a trick move from the President. He has given every indication at every stage of his career that he wants to make abortion more easily accessible. Every Christian who voted for him either knew this or cast a woefully uninformed vote.

  1. As far as I know, the American tax payer is already subsidizing abortions. The day after the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, President Obama lifted the ban on federal funding for international groups that promote or perform abortions. This effectively thrust the taxpayers back into the business of footing the bill for the procedure. While it may be a serpentine path that the money takes, tax funds still make their way into the hands of those who perform abortions.

    United States military hospitals have been performing non-elective abortions for quite some time, and while arguments may be made for these abortions from moral ground, the fact remains that the taxpayer is funding an abortion. President Clinton actually lifted the ban on non-elective abortions in military hospitals in 1993, with the caveat that women pay for the surgery themselves (which still puts the U.S. on the receiving end of profit from the death of a child). The ban was later reinstated, I believe, in 1996.

    Long before President Obama was elected, Christians have been turning their faces from the truth that they are passively allowing evil to flourish. Ominously, it seems that a great deal of believers have boldly embraced candidates and legislation that rob people, including the unborn, of civil liberties, financial independence, and protection from the government. We owe it to ourselves, as well as our children, to stop kowtowing to self-styled messiahs and washington hucksters.

    Keep on truckin’
